Jazz Improv Institute Mentoring Program

This is a comprehensive 3-month in-depth program for serious musicians ready to elevate their jazz improvisation. This program requires an interview and is best suited for a musician who has formal training up through Level 6, is looking to expand their gigs and opportunities, and has the capacity to put some time into their craft during the 3 month period.

The $3000 for 3 months includes full access to the online portal and all in-person classes at no additional cost.

    • Submit recordings and receive direct insights.

    • Asynchronous learning

    • Get tailored exercises to improve specific weaknesses.

    • Learn transcription based on skill level: start with guidance, progress to published transcriptions, and eventually learn how to transcribe on your own.

    • Learn about royalties, music business essentials, and a step-by-step process for elevating your jazz career. Note: being a musician is hard work!

  • Learn how to write killer arrangements for live and recorded performance.

    • Learn how to set up your own recording sessions, basic live acoustic mixing, and basic sound design for live swing music (rock or funk based grooves may require additional resources in terms of plugins and software).

    • For those in the Northern Virginia area, you will have access to group lessons on Saturday, 10 AM – 12 PM at Crescendo Studios, Falls Church, VA.

Jazz Improv Institute Certification Program

The Jazz Improv Institute offers an 8-Level Certification Program mapped to a college-level curriculum. There is nothing else out there that compares and is targeted to adult learners, music educators, and classical converts.

  • Progress through the 8 levels to track and validate your jazz improvisation skills. Each level requires a certain amount and level of transcription and performance.

A: No problem! You’ll still have full access to our online lessons and resources. There are no refunds for missed classes, and the monthly cost stays the same regardless of whether you attend all the classes, due to the incredible value provided in the online platform.

Q: What instruments can participate?
