Meet the Creator: Shannon Gunn

Hi, I’m Shannon. I’ve been a professional jazz trombone player for over 15 years, with performance credits including:

  • The Kennedy Center

  • DC Jazz Festival

  • Teaching jazz at the college level for 4 years

After coaching hundreds of students, I kept hearing the same thing:

  • “What can I play over a ii V7?”

  • “What should I play over a V7?”

  • “What are some ideas over a minor ii7(b5) V7(b9) i?”

So I built a resource for all improvisers—from the ground up.

I am endorsed by Conn Selmer and play a Bach 16M New York Model. I play on a Greg Black mouthpiece.
